Mohali, February 17: The Punjab Government has dismissed six officers in Rs 39-crore post-matric SC scholarship scam, which had come to light during the tenure of then Punjab Social Justice and Minorities minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot.
The six officers have been found guilty in the Rs 39-crore post matric-scheme SC scholarship scam. While four officers are from the Social Justice, Empowerment and Minority Affairs department, two are related to the Finance Department.

They are Parminder Singh, Deputy Director; Charanjit Singh, Deputy Controller; Mukesh Bhatia, Section Officer; Rajendra Chopra, Superintendent; Rakesh Arora and Baldev, Senior Sahayik.
About the post-matric SC scholarship scam
The scam was alleged by the then Administrative Secretary of Social Welfare Department, Kripa Shankar Saroj. He had written to the then Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan on August 21, 2020, alleging that under the PMS-SC scheme, the Central Government had sent Rs 303 crore to Punjab in February-March 2019.
He alleged that although the Directorate of Social Justice had withdrawn Rs 248 crore from the treasury, the department distributed this sum in an arbitrary manner and records of Rs 39 crore were missing.
