Reforms Directorate (ED) raided the house of Punjab Congress leader and former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu today. The ED team reached Ashu’s house near Kochhar Market in Ludhiana in the morning. Apart from this, the houses of many officials of the Food and Supply Department are also being investigated.

Currently, no information has been given by the ED team regarding this case, while a heavy police force is deployed outside the house of former minister Ashu. Bharat Bhushan Ashok was the Minister of Food and Supplies in the Congress government. During that time, Ashu was accused of committing many other scams including grain transportation.

The Punjab government has registered cases against Ashu in other places including Ludhiana. A case was registered on August 16, 2022 by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on charges of corruption related to the transport tender scam in the department under Bharat Bhushan. Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested Ashu from a salon in Ludhiana on 22 August 2022. After about 8 days of vigilance remand, Ashu was sent to Patiala jail. Now he is out on bail. The ED had obtained the papers of the grain scam from the vigilance. A raid has since been conducted today as part of the investigation process. Currently, the ED team is engaged in the investigation.
