Voting for student union elections was held in 10 colleges of Chandigarh along with Panjab University on Wednesday. This time a total of 131 candidates were in the fray. Out of these 21 candidates tried their luck in Punjab University and 110 colleges.
Congress’ student wing National Students Union of India (NSUI) has won the post of president in the Panjab University student union elections on Wednesday. Aam Aadmi Party’s student organization Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) has suffered a major setback.
Jitinder Singh became the president of NSUI
Congress wing NSUI’s Jitinder Singh became the president while SATH party’s Ramnikjot Kaur was elected as the vice president. Deepak Goyat of INSO has occupied the post of Secretary for the second time. INSO is the student wing of JJP of Haryana. Whereas, Gaurav Chahal of PUHH has occupied the post of Joint Secretary.
Last year (year 2022) NSUI won two posts of Vice President and Joint Secretary and before that in year 2021 NSUI won all three seats except the post of President. This time he could only win the post of president. In the last three years, the organization has lost one post at a time, meaning that the organization is getting weaker and weaker.
Ranmikjot Kaur became the vice president
Sath’s Ranmikjot Kaur has won the post of the vice president of PU students’ union. He was up against INSO candidate Anurag Vardhan, ISA’s Gaurav Chauhan and Gaurav Kashish. Ranmikjot Kaur took a big lead early on and maintained this lead till victory. The post of Joint Secretary was won by Gaurav Chahal of PUHH. Deepak Goit of INSO has won the general secretary election.
