Gurmeet Singh, who is currently lodged in Chandigarh’s high-security Burail jail, has sought premature release on the grounds that he has already served over 25 years’ sentence in the case. He further argued that he should not be discriminated against because several other life convicts have been released after completion of their 14 years’ sentence.
