Dibrugarh: The other Singhs along with the head of the Vars Punjab organization, Amritpal Singh, are on hunger strike inside the Dibrugarh Jail in Assam. Amritpal Singh’s religious wife Bibi Kirandeep Kaur has expressed this. He alleged that Dibrugarh Jail is not being allowed by the Punjab government to make phone calls to him. Not only this, he said that where the jail food is not fit to eat, substances like tobacco are being added to the food.
Kirandeep Kaur said that she goes to Dibrugarh Jail in Assam every week to meet Amritpal Singh. Like every week, today’s meeting time also passed very quickly. From today’s meeting I have come to know that other Singhs including Amritpal Singh are on hunger strike, there are some reasons for this, one of the reasons is that the Punjab Government is not allowing them to call Dibrugarh Jail. Because families are not talked to. If this facility, which is mandatory in every jail, is provided, then the 20-25 thousand rupees that a person charges for one visit will not be required. Not every family can bear this expense. With the facility of phone, the mental condition of the Singhs who are inside and their families can be maintained.
The most important thing is that due to the lack of phone facility, it is not even possible to talk to the lawyers, due to which the lawyers cannot be told anything and asked no. Due to this, there is a lot of hindrance in fighting the case and right and wrong are not known.
Sometimes they do not put salt in the dal vegetable and sometimes the second thing is that the food and drink arrangement in the jail is not good. In a conversation with our colleague Kulwinder Singh from Amritsar, Amritpal Singh and his associates imprisoned in Dibrugarh jail and SGPC lawyer Bhagwant Singh Sialka confirmed the hunger strike by Amritpal and his associates and also said that the ADGP level officer of Assam believed Their issues will be resolved soon.
Let us tell that Amritpal and his 9 companions are currently locked up in Dibrugarh Central Jail of Assam. They have been arrested under the National Security Act. Amritpal was arrested on April 23 from Rode, the native village of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.
