Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur today announced the establishment of a Regional Facilitation Office of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in Chandigarh. It aims to make doing business easier for filmmakers in the region. Anurag Thakur announced this during the closing ceremony of 'Chitra Bharati Film Festival' in Chandigarh today.

Announcing this, Thakur said that filmmakers from the region will be able to screen films and present their various cuts/edits without the need to travel to Delhi or Mumbai to obtain CBFC certificates for their films. He said that this step will further strengthen the Punjabi film industry.

The minister also said, “Today India is being seen as a content hub and India is becoming the preferred country for both the shooting and post-production process of international films. “In parallel, our own content is being appreciated around the world.” The Union Minister said, “From feature films to documentaries and short films to serials, Indian cinema today is painting every color of life on its canvas.

Anurag Thakur said, “I am confident that films made in Punjab also have immense potential. Therefore, the government has decided to set up a CBFC facility office in Chandigarh to ease the process of getting the certificate and speed up the process of completing the film.
