Work in the Punjab and Haryana High Court has stopped even today

Due to the indefinite strike of the lawyers, the court work will remain at a standstill in the Punjab-Haryana High Court like last Tuesday. In such a situation, people can save their time and avoid trouble by not coming to the High Court today.

The High Court Bar Association has given an ultimatum to the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann till September 29 to take action against the inhumane torture of Bar Association member Advocate Virinder Singh by the police of Sri Muktsar Sahib. The Bar Association has placed 7 demands before the Chief Minister and till their fulfillment the strike continues indefinitely.

Along with this, BJP’s legal cell convener NK Verma has also accused the policemen of stripping advocate Virinder Singh’s clothes and making a video of him. It is alleged that the lawyer was also threatened that he would make the video viral if he opened his mouth in the court.

A case has been registered against 6 police personnel including the SP in charge
Earlier, the Punjab government has come into action late last night after the bar association found out that the work in the courts of Punjab and Haryana has come to a standstill. Then immediately a case was registered against Sri Muktsar Sahib SP (D) Ramandeep Singh Bhullar along with CIA in-charge Raman Kamboj and 4 constables Harbans Singh, Bhupinder, Gurpreet Singh and Dara Singh.

7 demands placed before the Chief Minister
1. Cancel the false case No. 153 filed on September 15 against Advocate Virinder Singh in the City Police Station of Sri Muktsar Sahib.
2. The investigation of case number 145 registered on September 25 in the Sadar police station of Sri Muktsar Sahib should be handed over to the CBI without any delay.
3. In case number 145 registered on September 25 in the Sadar Police Station of Sri Muktsar Sahib, IPC. and IT Additional clauses to be inserted under Act 2000.
4. According to the order given by the CJM court of Sri Muktsar Sahib on 22 September, the accused policemen should be nominated.
5. The accused police officers/employees should be arrested without any delay.
6. The SSP of Sri Muktsar Sahib and other accused police officers/employees should be dismissed with immediate effect.
7. The life and liberty of the victim lawyer Varinder Singh and his family members should be protected.

Demonstration of lawyers in the High Court complex
Earlier today, lawyers of the Punjab-Haryana High Court staged a protest in the courtyard of the High Court and demanded that the guilty police personnel be punished and that the case be investigated by an external agency or CBI-NIA. Lawyers said that the Punjab Police cannot investigate the matter impartially.

The advocates together went to the SSP office and the police station
Earlier, advocate Varinder Singh Sandhu advised the client to complain to the SSP. At the request of the client, Advocate Sandhu also went to the SSP office with him, but could not meet the SSP there. Then the client told the advocate Virender that now he will not be allowed to enter the village. In such a situation, the lawyer asked the client to file a complaint in Sadar Police Station and went with him to Sadar Police Station. After complaining there, the SHO of Thana Sadar assured them to come to the village and form a joint committee of the villagers.
