Faridkot: In Golewala town of Faridkot district of Punjab, a terrible fire broke out in the 66 KV power grid suddenly in the afternoon due to an explosion in the transformer. Three electrical workers, Jasmail Singh, Goldi and Baldev Singh, who were repairing the electrical equipment there, were burnt due to being hit by it. In which Jasmail Singh’s condition is more serious, he has been admitted to the Medical College Hospital.

The heavy rain since Saturday morning flooded the electrical equipment of the grid. To save which the three electricians were working there. But soon there was a fire along with the explosion. Even after 2 hours of the fire, the fire could not be controlled. After the fire incident, power supply from the power grid was stopped.

Half an hour after the incident of fire, the Golewala fire brigade vehicle arrived from Faridkot city, which could not control the fire even after two hours. In this incident of arson, electrical equipment worth lakhs of rupees got burnt. According to the local people, it has been revealed from RTI that the time limit of the said grid had expired in 2003 itself. The grid has not been upgraded despite people’s repeated demands.

The result of which came out today in the form of a terrible fire. As soon as the incident was reported, local police, electricity department officials and local legislators also reached the spot. These electrical devices continued to work normally even during the scorching heat of the past few days, but when the demand for electricity decreased due to rain, no one understands how this fire started.

It is believed that this accident has happened due to water filling in electrical appliances. At present, it is a big challenge for the officials and employees of the electricity department to restore the interrupted power supply from the grid.
