Reports of looting and theft are coming out in Punjab day by day. The latest incident happened in Khanna. A major incident of theft has taken place on the National Highway in Khanna on Wednesday night. A suitcase was stolen by breaking the windshield of the Punjab police constable’s car. The suitcase contained about 30 tolas of gold, 2 lakh rupees and other items. As soon as the theft was reported, the police reached the spot and started the investigation.

Hauldar Kuldeep Singh posted at Jagraon Police Line said that he was going from Jagraon to Sirhind in a Bareja car along with his wife Gurwinder Kaur, daughter-in-law and daughter. On the way, they stopped at Bikaner Sweets in Khanna to eat sweets. Meanwhile, the whole family started eating golgappa outside the sweet shop.

According to Kuldeep Singh, his focus was only on the car. Because a suitcase was kept on the back seat of the car, which contained gold ornaments and cash. It was not even 2 minutes that they came back after eating Golgappa with sweets and found that the glass of the back window of the car was broken and the suitcase on the seat was missing.

According to Kuldeep Singh and his wife Gurwinder Kaur, their son’s wedding is in November. Wedding preparations are going on at home. He had bought only gold jewelery for the wedding as he was going to Sirhind. It was not considered safe to keep gold and cash in quarters. Because of this they were carrying it with them that it was stolen.

On the other hand, the police are in a dilemma regarding this incident. SHO of City Police Station-1 Hemant Malhotra said that the matter seems suspicious as it is not wise to carry so much gold and cash while travelling. There are no cameras where the incident took place. Front and rear cameras are being seen. Police are investigating from all aspects.
