Harbhajan Singh: Aam Aadmi Party has congratulated the workers who have contributed significantly to the development of the country and the state on the occasion of Labor Day. Senior AAP leader and Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said during a press conference in Jalandhar on Monday that the working class of any country and state is an important part of its development. It is worth mentioning that AAP MLA Sheetal Angural from Jalandhar West was also present with him during this conversation.

The AAP leader said that after the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has made continuous efforts for the upliftment and welfare of the workers of the state. He said that the Hon’ble government is implementing various schemes for the welfare of the working class in the state.

He said that Dr. BR Ambedkar, the maker of the country’s constitution, has also given priority to the workers in the constitution and he has also fought for the workers during his time. The ‘AAP’ government is also working for the welfare of workers in Punjab by promoting Ambedkar’s thinking. The ETO said that during the previous government, the labor registration in the state was 16905 in the year 2021-22, while the AAP government increased it to 50637 in 2022-23. He said that unless the working class comes into the organized sector, they cannot get all the facilities and other benefits provided by the government.

He further informed that only 33 crore 15 lakh rupees were kept for the welfare of the workers during 2021-22 during the previous government. While the government increased it three times to 102 crore 65 lakh rupees in the account of the workers of the state and spent it. Apart from this, 933 camps have been set up at different places in the state during the last one year for the registration of workers. The registration of workers was done by visiting their work place so that transparency can be kept in the registration and registration of genuine workers can be done.

Cabinet Minister ETO expressed regret over the removal of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) from the NCERT syllabus, saying that it was removed from the NCERT due to farmers’ protest against the agricultural laws. He said that our generation should know about the fight fought by farmers and laborers for their rights. This step of NCRT is highly condemnable.

He said that under the guarantee of the ‘AAP’ government, 600 units of electricity are being given free of charge to the people of the state, due to which the electricity bills of nearly 90 percent of the people of Punjab have become zero. Most of whom belong to the poor and working class. He said that unless there is light in the homes of the workers, light is not possible in their lives.

He said that recently a decision was taken in the Punjab Cabinet to provide financial assistance to the laborers working there along with the compensation of the damaged crops during the natural calamity. For this, the government has fixed ten percent of the compensation amount for the workers.
