A 35-year-old man died after coming in contact with high voltage wires in Dera Baba Nanak town of Gurdaspur. The youth has been identified as Shaukat Masih, a resident of Padda village. This accident happened while breaking the linter of a shop. Where the rebar collided with the high voltage wire. The family of the deceased has demanded justice

The deceased’s father, Lakha Masih, said that Shaukat had gone from home to earn daily wages. He was breaking the locks of the shops coming between the National Highway under construction in the village of Kahlawali when the rickshaw collided with the high voltage wires passing over the shops. Due to which Shaukat received a severe electric shock and became unconscious.

Colleagues tried to save him but his life was not saved
The youth working with him said that he immediately buried himself in the soil. His feet were also massaged but when he lost consciousness, he was immediately taken to Dera Baba Nanak Civil Hospital. Where the doctors declared him dead.

Demand action against the shop owner
The family members of the deceased have demanded that strict action be taken against the shop owner. He said that if the owner wanted to demolish the shop, he would have taken a permit from the electricity department and stopped the power supply. If the electricity had stopped, this accident would not have happened. This accident happened due to the negligence of the shop owner.

SHO of Dera Baba Nanak police station Bikram Singh said that postmortem is being conducted after taking possession of the dead body. Appropriate action will be taken according to the statement given by the family members of the deceased.
