The Asia Cup may be shifted from Colombo, due to flood-like conditions caused by heavy rains

Super-4 stage matches in Asia Cup 2023 may shift from Colombo to another city. Flood-like conditions have arisen in Colombo at the moment, due to which the matches may be held in Kandy or Dambulla in Sri Lanka. Five matches of the final and Super-4 stage are to be held in Colombo. The Super-4 stage of the Asia Cup will start from September 6. The first match will be played in Lahore, Pakistan, while the remaining matches will be held in Colombo.

According to Asian Cricket Council sources, it has been raining continuously in Colombo for the past few days. Flood-like conditions are happening in the city and heavy rain is predicted for the next few days. Considering that the Super-4 stage matches to be held in Colombo can be held elsewhere. The first match of the Super-4 stage in Colombo will be held on September 9. This will be followed by 4 more matches till September 15 in the city. The final match of the Asia Cup is also going to be held in Colombo on September 17.

It rained all day in Colombo on Sunday. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain in the city from Monday to next Sunday i.e. September 10. Meanwhile, the temperature can be between 26 to 29 degrees. Due to which the chances of any kind of outdoor sports activity being possible will be lost.

Let it be known that the Asian Cricket Council is planning to shift the venue of the match in view of the rain in Colombo. Super-4 matches can be held in Kandy and Dambulla. 2 group stage matches have been played in Kandy so far. The result of the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh match was announced, while the India-Pakistan match was postponed due to rain. Now the group stage match between India and Nepal is to be held on the same ground on September 4, on which there is a threat of rain.
