Former India cricketer Dinesh Mongia is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections. According to sources, Dinesh Mongia could get BJP membership in Delhi.

The 44-year-old left-hander, who was born in Chandigarh, made his ODI debut in 2001 and played his last match for India on May 12, 2007 against Bangladesh. While his international career has been limited to 57 ODIs and one T20I. Dinesh scored 8028 runs for Punjab in 121 first-class matches with the help of 27 hundreds and 28 fifties at an average of 48.95.

Dinesh hit a magnificent 159-run century against Zimbabwe in 2002. Most importantly, he was part of the Indian team in the 2003 World Cup in South Africa, where India lost to Australia in the final. As far as his List A career is concerned, Mongia scored 5535 runs at an average of 35.25.
