The Congress party has announced its new working committee (CWC). Former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has been inducted as a member of the CWC by the Congress high command. Former Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu was not given a place in the CWC.

Earlier, Sidhu was not even given a place in the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC). During the February 2022 Punjab Assembly elections, Navjot Sidhu was the state Congress chief, but after the resounding defeat in the elections, the Congress high command demanded Sidhu’s resignation. After that Giddarbaha MLA Amarinder Singh Raja Waring was made the new president of Punjab Pradesh Congress.

Ever since then, speculations were going on that Navjot Singh Sidhu can only be given a place in the leadership of the center by the Congress high command. However, Sidhu was not included in the list of new working committee (WCC) members of the party released by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Sunday.

Apart from Charanjit Singh Channi, the Congress high command has also included Lok Sabha member from Anandpur Sahib Manish Tiwari in the list of permanent invitees of CWC. Apart from them, along with Channi, senior party leader Ambika Soni, who has been a member of the Rajya Sabha from Punjab, is also included in the CWC members.
