Amritsar: Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami today welcomed the filing of the charge sheet by the CBI against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in the 1984 Delhi Sikh massacre case.

He said that Jagdish Tytler is among the alleged main culprits of the Delhi Sikh massacre, who should be severely punished. Dhami said that with the charge sheet filed by the CBI today, there is hope that the Congress leader will be punished and the victims will get justice.

Advocate Dhami said that the victims of 1984 Sikh massacre have been demanding justice for a long time. Baba Balbir Singh, head of Nihang organization Budha Dal termed this decision as welcome and said that now the work of pronouncing sentence should be done soon.

Let it be said that yesterday CBI filed a charge sheet against Jagdish Tytler in the case of 1984 Sikh riots. CBI has registered Tytler as an accused in the charge sheet. This case is related to the killing of Thakur Singh, Badal Singh and Gurcharan Singh by a mob near Gurudwara Pul Bangash Azad Market. The incident took place on November 1, 1984. Officials said that new evidence related to the allegations against Tytler has come to light. According to the statements given by the witnesses in this case, Tytler had incited the crowd. The petition in the case was filed by Lakhwinder Kaur who is the wife of deceased Badal Singh.

A charge sheet has been filed against Jagdish Tytler under various sections including Sections 147, 148, 149, 153 (A), 188 IPC and 109, 302, 295 and 436.
