He said that during the last floods, when the Ghaggar river burst, the water level at the Khanuri gage was about 748 feet. The Deputy Commissioner said that rumors are being spread about reinforcement work being done by some mischievous elements which is completely wrong and the residents of the district need to be aware of such rumours. He said that the district administration has made full preparations in view of the rapid flow of water and if necessary, NDRF has been dispatched from Bathinda to start rescue operations on time. The team has also been accommodated at Munak.
He said that the embankment around Ghaggar is being continuously monitored and the embankment is being continuously strengthened at weak places. He said that in view of the critical situation, empty and full sand bags have been kept at various places as precautionary measures and necessary machinery is also being used day and night for relief work.

During the review meeting of the work being done for the relief operations, the Deputy Commissioner said that the next 48 hours are very critical, but the district administration is working hard to control the situation on the guidelines of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Jitod is working hard day and night. He directed the officials of the health department to immediately set up medical camps in the villages and directed the food and civil supplies department to ensure the availability of ration during emergencies.
He directed the Public Works Department and the Mandi Board to improve the condition of all the roads in the area so that there is no problem in the movement of vehicles if necessary. On this occasion, SSP Surendra Lamba said that the police department is giving full support to the district administration to deal with all kinds of situations and 24 hours patrolling is being done on the banks of Ghaggar river to ensure immediate relief operations.
On this occasion, besides others, Additional Deputy Commissioner Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Vikas Varjit Walia, Assistant Commissioner Nitesh Jain, SDM Suba Singh, SDM Navreet Kaur Sekhon, Civil Surgeon Dr. Parminder Kaur and NDRF. Officials were also present.
