Gold smuggling racket exposed by customs department

The Customs Department has successfully busted a gold smuggling racket at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar district. Currently, one person is being detained and questioned. The accused had brought it in the form of gold paste, hidden in his private part, so that he could not be caught even in the customs body scanner.

According to the information given by the customs department, the passenger had returned from Dubai. He was caught during customs checking. The customs department had received information that gold was being smuggled. When the accused was strictly interrogated, he gave information about 3 capsules of gold hidden in his private part.

When the customs department recovered the gold paste from his private part, it weighed 1.183 kg. This was converted into pure gold, which had a total weight of 844.80 grams. Its international price is said to be Rs 50 lakh.
