Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted anticipatory bail to Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal in the Kotkapura firing case. The High Court has confirmed the orders of interim bail received earlier.

The High Court on Friday granted bail to Sukhbir Singh Badal along with Sumedh Saini, Amar Singh Chahal, Charanjit Sharma, Paramraj Umarangal and Sukhmandar Singh Mann. The High Court has already granted relief to all of them by granting interim bail.

The High Court in its order made it clear that the petitioner would cooperate with the investigation and not try to influence any witness.

SIT filed a charge sheet against 8 accused

Let us tell you that on 14 October 2015, the police cracked down on the protestors protesting the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib in Kotakpura, in which around 60 protestors and police personnel were injured. The SIT investigating the case had filed a charge sheet against 8 people in this case. Former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was also among the accused, who has now passed away.

Let us tell you that in the Kotakpura shooting case that happened in 2015, the SIT has so far presented four challans against the accused. In this, the first challan of about 7000 pages, the second challan of 2400 pages, the third challan of 2500 pages and the fourth challan of 22 pages was presented on September 15.
