Odisha Health Minister Nab Kishore Das died during treatment. He was shot dead by an ASI in Brajrajnagar of Jharsugra at 1 pm. Das was hit by two bullets in the chest after which he was airlifted to Apollo Hospital in Bhubaneswar for treatment.
During the incident, the minister was going to attend a program in Brajrajnagar. As soon as Das, who was sitting in the front seat of the car, got down to meet his supporters, the ASI shot him twice in the chest. Das fell down next to the car covered in blood.
His supporters present at the scene of the incident caught him and called an ambulance and sent him to the hospital. After some time, he was airlifted to Apollo Hospital in Bhubaneswar. Das died about 7 hours after the incident.
On the other hand, the police have taken ASI Gopal, who fired, into custody. The state government has handed over the investigation of the matter to CID and Crime Branch. The 7-member special investigation team includes officers from cyber, ballistic and crime branches. The team is headed by DSP Ramesh C Dora.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has expressed grief over the demise of the Health Minister. He said that this is a deep shock for me. He was important to both the party and the government. His demise is an irreparable loss to Odisha.
