Parliamentary committee meeting on UCC today

The Parliamentary Committee on Law and Order Affairs will hold an important meeting today regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). The Law Commission preparing the draft on UCC has also been invited in this meeting. BJP’s Rajya Sabha member Sushil Modi will preside over the meeting. In which 31 members of Parliament and all members of the committee will be included. Everyone’s opinion on the UCC will be sought and considered.

Standing Modi Committee chairman and BJP MP Sushil Modi has said about this meeting that an attempt will be made to get the views of all stakeholders. He said about this meeting, ‘The meeting of the committee will be non-political as it will include members of all political parties.

gWe will discuss the Law Commission report on UCC on July 3 at 3 pm. If necessary, we will call another meeting to discuss the matter further. The committee is completely neutral on this matter.

On June 27, Prime Minister Modi, while addressing 10 lakh BJP booth workers in Bhopal, advocated the early implementation of the Uniform Civil Code across the country. On this matter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the country cannot be run by ‘two laws’, while the Constitution speaks of equality for all. PM Modi said, “Will a family survive if there are two different rules for family members? How will the country run? Our Constitution also guarantees equal rights to all irrespective of religion, caste and race.”
