Punjab News: In the state of Punjab, continuous efforts are being made by the government for the all-round development of the poor people of the Scheduled Caste and Backward Classes. In connection with this, Dr. Baljit Kaur, Minister of Social Justice Empowerment and Minorities of the State of Punjab, Minister of Social Justice Empowerment of the Government of India, A. A meeting was held with Narayana Swamy to discuss the implementation of Center sponsored schemes in the state.

During the meeting, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur also raised the issue of non-release of Rs. 360 crore by the Government of India for the year 2020-2021 and 2021-22 under the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh ​​Gram Yojana for the state of Punjab and appealed to the Union Minister to This amount should be released immediately. Dr. Baljit Kaur also brought to the attention of the Union Minister that during the financial year 2022-23, the state government has demanded Rs. 260 crore from the Government of India.

Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur further said that for the successful implementation of the Prevention of Atrocities Act scheme, more money was demanded under it. Apart from this, a proposal to increase the limit of this amount from 50 thousand to 2.50 lakh rupees per beneficiary has also been placed before the Government of India to promote the inter-caste marriage scheme.

In addition to the above, the minister also raised the issue that many schemes are being run by the Government of India, in which applicants are directly benefited by applying on the portal at their own level. The state government does not have any information about these directly implemented schemes and the beneficiaries who have benefited. Therefore, a proposal was placed before the Government of India to route these schemes through the state government instead of directly through the applicant.

During the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary of Social Justice Empowerment and Minority Department G. Ramesh Kumar assured that the National Helpline No. 1989 would be made available to the general public soon for smooth implementation of the Prevention of Atrocities Act.

The meeting was attended by Director of Social Justice Empowerment and Minorities Department, Jaspreet Singh and Director-cum-Joint Secretary Raj Bahadur, apart from various senior officials of the department.
