Popular Punjabi lyricist Harjinder Singh Bal has today merged with Panchtatta. His last rites will be performed today at the Ladhewali (Ramamandi) crematorium in Jalandhar. 3 days ago Mehboob lyricist Harjinder Ball died during treatment at PGI Chandigarh after a long illness. He was first treated abroad, but did not get relief. Then he was admitted to a private hospital in Jalandhar.
As his condition worsened, the private hospital in Jalandhar referred him to PGI Chandigarh. Lyricist Harjinder Singh Ball gave many songs which are still on people’s tongues. Many famous singers of Punjab including late singer Sardul Sikandar, Hans Raj Hans, Puran Shah Koti, Master Salim, Feroze Khan gave their voice to the songs written by him.
Harjinder Ball’s song ‘Jab Ho Gayi Meri Doli Akhian To Ohle….Pichhon Rowangi Dekh Meri Gudiyan Patole’, sung in his own voice by the famous singer of Punjab late Sardul Sikandar, resonates even today at weddings. Even a wedding album is incomplete until this song penned by Ball is played in the farewell scene.
The singers expressed grief
Artists, singers, lyricists, writers of Punjabi film and music industry have expressed deep sorrow on his death. He says that the Punjabi music industry has suffered a great loss with the passing away of Harjinder Singh Ball. His place will never be filled. Master Salim has written in his post that Bal Sahab gave him a lot, taught him a lot.
Master Salim wrote that he keeps meeting him from time to time, but it is sad that he could not be with him in his last moments. Little did they know that they would never see Bhaji again.
