The Kapurthala police have claimed to have busted a gang of drug smugglers who cultivate opium in Bihar and supply it to Punjab. They do not use any big vehicle or hi-tech vehicle for supply but supply opium on bicycle. The police have arrested 2 people and registered a case against them under the NDPS Act.

According to the information, 1.3 kg of opium has been recovered from the accused. DSP Sub-Division said that these two had come to Punjab for some time and were working as cooks. When the blockade was made near the village Aadhi Khoohi, the police stopped these two on the basis of suspicion while coming from a bicycle and after searching their bag, the police found 1 kg 351 grams of opium in it, which was confiscated.

The accused have been identified as Pankaj son of Goswar, a resident of Barwari village, Gaya Bihar district, and Rajesh Yadav, son of Rambarj Yadav, a resident of Gaya Bihar. When the police questioned them, they said that they cultivate opium in a forest area in Bihar and supply it to Punjab and other states.
