Jal Jeevan Mission: UP beats Jharkhand and West Bengal in providing tap connections, Yogi government’s big achievement

Har Ghar Jal: The Yogi Adityanath government has left behind Jharkhand and West Bengal in providing tap connections. While achieving a major achievement, the UP government has strengthened its position in the states by providing tap connections to more than 81 lakh rural households. UP has reached the fourth number in the country in terms of giving maximum number of tap connections. Under the Har Ghar Jal Yojana of the Jal Jeevan Mission, more than 5 crore people have started getting pure drinking water from the tap.

Har Ghar Jal Yojana benefited

The Yogi government has achieved a new achievement in taking Jal Jeevan Mission’s Har Ghar Jal Yojana to the villagers. Till Tuesday, tap connections have been provided to 81,87,394 rural households in UP. More than 4,91,24,364 villagers are getting benefited from this. With the ambitious scheme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the dream of providing ‘Har Ghar Jal’ to 31.1 percent rural families of UP has been fulfilled.

More tap water supply than Jharkhand-West Bengal

Tap water supply has reached only 30.95 rural households in Jharkhand and 30.56 in West Bengal. In UP where every day more than 30 thousand rural families are being given tap connections. Whereas in Jharkhand this figure is limited to 2,500 per day and in West Bengal to 7,000 rural families per day.

Backward even in giving total tap connections

West Bengal and Jharkhand have also lagged behind in providing total tap connections, despite being less populous states than UP. According to the data of February 21, Bihar 1,59,00,575, Maharashtra 1,07,34,14 and Gujarat 91,18,449 states in the country are ahead of UP in providing tap connections to rural households.
