Chandigarh: Now there is no need to rush through offices for vehicle registration in Chandigarh. Now all this work has been done online. Registration Licensing Authority (RLA) Chandigarh office has made vehicle registration services completely online and contactless for the convenience of the general public as per the notification issued by the Ministry of Highways, Government of India on Road Transport.

According to the information given by RLA, from June 1, the required files for the services implemented regarding vehicle registration will not be taken manually or offline in the office of the department. However, if an applicant faces any technical problem while availing the above services online, he can apply offline for that service at the office of the Registration and Licensing Authority by making prior appointment.

These services will be available only from 9:30 am to 1 pm and the appointment slots for these services will be available on the official website of RLA www.chdtransport.gov.in. Chandigarh RLA Parduman Singh has requested the general public to avail the facility of online and contactless services to avoid visiting the RLA office for submitting any documents or fees etc.

He said that in case of any query regarding contactless services applicants can contact RLA telephone number 0172-2705270 or 0172-2706270.

RLA Parduman Singh said that apart from the above, the services related to issuance of driving license have also been made online through the Transport Portal of Government of India. Similar to vehicle registration service, all driving license services can be applied for online by uploading documents and fee etc. But physical presence of the applicant is necessary for photograph and biometric capture.

However, applicants can directly visit the RLA office without any prior online appointment after applying online for these services on the transport portal. The RLA office is also in the process of discontinuing biometric and photo requirements and this will also be done in due course so that common people can also avail these services without visiting the RLA office.
