Public Sand mining At Hoshiarpur: The decision of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to provide sand to the people of the state at the price of Rs 5.50 per cubic foot was implemented in Hoshiarpur. Accordingly, the sand filling work was started in the district today without the help of mechanical machinery from four sand pits.
Cabinet Minister Bram Shankar Jimpa started this work from the quarries of Bassi Ghulam Hussain, Mahilwanali and Dagana Kalan. Apart from this, sand filling work has also been started from Ghukrewal today. Meanwhile MLA Dr. Ravjot Singh, Mayor Surinder Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, Senior Deputy Mayor Praveen Saini, Deputy Mayor Ranjit Chaudhary were also present.
The Cabinet Minister said on the occasion that with this decision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the people will get a big relief and it has been ensured that they will get sand at a cheap price for houses and other construction works. He said that the maximum benefit will be given to those workers who will get employment through sand filling.
He said that sand will be filled from the sand quarries that started today in the district from 8 am to 6 pm only and no crane or JCB will be used to fill the sand. Such machinery will not be used and all filling will be done manually. He said that the labor of filling will also be the responsibility of the vehicle driver.
Bram Shankar Jimpa said that there are clear orders from the Punjab government that sand extraction will not be allowed from anywhere except the official sand quarries in the district. He said that the police have been clearly instructed to keep full vigilance on these official quarries and neither to allow sand filling after the fixed time nor to use machinery during sand filling. He said that with this decision of the Chief Minister, the sand mafia has been wiped out in Punjab, with which the common people have breathed a sigh of relief.
On this occasion SDM Preet Inder Bains, Axion Drainage SS Randhawa, SDO Sandeep Kumar, Mining Inspector Maninder Singh, Manpreet Singh, Advocate Amarjot Singh Saini and other important personalities of the respective areas were present.
