Gurdeep singh khara, hospitalised, Sikh prisoner

Bureau report : Bad news has come about Bandi Singh Gurdeep Singh Khera, who has been in jail for 32 years. He has been admitted to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, he has been brought to the hospital due to severe heart problems. Akali Dal leader Virsa Singh Valtoha reached the hospital to meet him, he told that Gurdeep Singh Khera has two heart veins blocked and it has been revealed in engiography. A few weeks ago, he was in the same hospital, but without treatment, Gurdeep Singh Khaira was sent to jail. Valtoha said that when Gurdeep Singh Khera’s sister got a call, he was very upset and was crying. When Khera came out on parole in February, he told that he has heart disease. They demanded the government to pardon them and other captive Singhs. Gurdeep Singh Khera is a resident of village Jalupur Khera. After completing his 14-year sentence in the Delhi blasts, the then Sheila government pardoned his sentence, while he was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Karnataka blasts cases. He has been serving his sentence for more than 3 decades, he was shifted to Amritsar Jail a few years ago.

Gurdeep Khaira was born in Jallupur Khaira village of Raya town of Amritsar. After the 1984 Sikh massacre, he joined the Khalistan Liberation Force. After this, in 1988-1989, first in Delhi and later in Karnataka’s Bidar city, there were allegations of blasts.

Khera has been in jail since 1990

The police arrested Gurdeep Singh Khera on December 6, 1990. On 15 December 1991, the court sentenced him to life imprisonment. He was also sentenced to life imprisonment till his last breath by the Karnataka court in the case of bomb blasts. After completing his life sentence in Delhi, he was transferred to his state by the Karnataka government.

Before the 2017 assembly elections, the Akali Dal government raised the issue of shifting captive Sikhs to Punjab. Following the support of the BJP government at the Centre, some Bandi Singhs were sent to Punjab, accepting their demands.

In which Professor Bhullar and Gurdeep Singh Khaira were also present. This was the occasion when Khaira met his family after 8 years.
