United States Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti along with his wife Amy Wakeland and a family member paid obeisance at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. Yesterday, while reaching Sri Darbar Sahib, Ambassador Garcetti went around the Langar Hall and served with his hands. Later he went to Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib to pay obeisance, where he was presented with garlands of flowers and prasad of Patasas by the Hazuri Singhs.
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Harjinder Singh Dhami honored Ambassador Garcetti and his family members at the Information Center of Sri Darbar Sahib by presenting them with a golden model of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, books and a shawl. Earlier, Harjinder Singh Dhami and Ambassador Garcetti discussed various topics with each other during a meeting.
Talking to the Ambassador, Shiromani Committee President Harjinder Singh Dhami asked him to start direct flights from America to Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar. The ambassador gave a positive response to this.
Ambassador Garcetti wrote in the visitor's book about his visit, “There are few places in the world that are truly sacred – the Golden Temple is at the top of that list. Not only can you feel the sanctity of this place, but the generous service of the people not only defines the world as it could be. Shiromani Committee President Harjinder Singh Dhami said that US Ambassador Eric Garcetti was honored on his arrival here. He said that Ambassador Garcetti expressed that there is a large number of Sikhs living in his home state of California with whom he has good and old relations.

Harjinder Singh Dhami said that Ambassador Garcetti has been asked to make special efforts to start direct flights from America to Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar.
He said that there is a large number of people of Sikh and Punjabi community living in America, who will get a lot of convenience by starting direct flights to Amritsar and will also be able to avoid the expense and hassle of coming to Punjab from New Delhi.
