Forest officer and drug dealer arrested for taking bribe

Punjab Anti-Corruption Drive: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Block Forest Officers Ramandeep Singh and Munish Kumar Daroge posted in the Malerkotla Forest Range during their anti-corruption drive on the charge of accepting a bribe of Rs 70,000.

Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that this case against the said employees has been registered after investigating the online complaint filed by Gurjit Singh of village Katron of Sangrur district on the ‘Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line’.

Giving further information in this regard, the spokesperson said that the complainant has alleged in the online complaint that the said forest employees have received Rs 70,000 as bribe in lieu of not imposing a heavy fine in the cases of cutting trees belonging to the forest department.

The spokesman further said that the Vigilance Unit of Patiala range investigated the allegations made in the online complaint and both the accused were arrested after being found guilty of accepting a bribe of Rs 70,000 from the complainant.

In this regard, a case of corruption has been registered against the said employees at Vigilance Police Station Patiala and both of them have been arrested. The accused will be produced in court tomorrow. He said that further investigation of this matter is going on.
