Action has been taken against the accused contractor Anmol Katyal in the case of lantern falling in Baddowal Eminence Government School of Ludhiana district. A case under section 304 has been registered against Anmol at Mullanpur Dakha police station. Currently, Anmol is absconding. The police are conducting a raid to arrest him.
A teacher Ravinder Kaur died in the accident due to the fall of the school lantern, while Narinderjit Kaur, Sukhjit Kaur and Indu Rani were injured. The body of the deceased teacher Ravinder Kaur has been sent to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem. Ravinder Kaur has got a serious injury on her head. It is being told that dirt got stuck in his breathing tube. The body of Ravinder Kaur will be handed over to the heirs after postmortem today. The teacher’s last rites will be performed tomorrow afternoon.
Ravinder Kaur was recruited as Master Cadre in 2014. After the accident, there is a wave of mourning among the students of the school. More than 600 students were studying at the time of the accident. Ravinderpal Kaur was a social subject teacher. She used to teach students from 6th to 10th standard.
In the month of June itself, she got transferred from Nurpur Bet to Baddowal government school. She was living in a housing board colony in the metropolis. She is survived by a son and husband Mandeep Singh.
Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Surbhi Malik has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the matter. The Education Department will also conduct an investigation at its own level. Records show that the school building was originally built in the 1960s. At this time it was in poor condition. Construction work was going on on the second floor at the time of the accident. Consequently, the roof of the staff room on the ground floor collapsed due to the collapse of the supporting pillar. The repair work was given to the contractor by the Panchayati Raj Department.
SDM West has been made the chairman of the committee for magisterial inquiry. DSP of Dakha, Public Works Department and DEO of Senior Secondary School have been made members. Complete investigation will be done by collecting records from the concerned departments. Whatever action will be taken against the remaining contractor Anmol will be taken.
