Inaugurating the campaign on Friday, the Chief Minister ordered the health department to make coordinated efforts to control the spread of the disease and to sensitize people about the prevention of dengue. He said that although flood water has receded from most places in the state, water is standing in many places, which is becoming a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Bhagwant Mann said that the focus of this campaign should be on making the state free from mosquitoes so that dengue cannot spread its foot in Punjab.
CM Mann asked the health department to make extensive arrangements for spraying medicine in urban as well as rural areas and to increase the deployment of employees for checking larvae. He said that the department needs to take concrete steps to prevent dengue and focus on providing medicine to the victims immediately. Bhagwant Mann said that although the cases of dengue are still less compared to last year, there should be no reduction in the efforts to control dengue in view of the floods.

The Chief Minister emphasized on making all possible efforts to control dengue so that the people are provided with a safe environment. He appealed to the people to clean their homes and surroundings to prevent the spread of dengue larvae. Bhagwant Mann said that the health department should work with other departments like school education rural development, local government department to prevent dengue mosquito.
He said that despite the research done in the field of medical science, dengue remains a serious threat to people’s health. He said that awareness is the key to control this disease. He asked all concerned departments and people to continue efforts against dengue. Bhagwant Mann invited the people to support the government in the campaign against dengue. He assured that the state government will make war level efforts to make the dengue control campaign a success. On this occasion Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh and others were present.
