Mansa: Due to continuous rains in Punjab for the last two days, flood-like conditions have developed across the state. Most of the cities of the state are submerged in water and people’s houses and shops have also been flooded. Incessant rain has become a threat of flooding. People are suffering due to water filling in places. Due to rain, water has also risen in rain drains, choas and rivers of Punjab. Meanwhile, the Punjab government is on full alert. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has ordered all the ministers, MLAs and officers of the state to go and help the people.

Along with this, DC and SSP have also been ordered to speed up the relief work on the field. Mann said that where there is a situation of flooding, use a water pump. There is a possibility of heavy rain in the next two-three days. The Chief Minister has issued an alert in low-lying and riverside areas and urged people to come out of their homes only for essential work. The Chief Minister is constantly monitoring the situation.

At present, the situation is that a large number of people are stuck on the roads due to the closure of vehicles due to flooding. Vigilance orders have been given by the administration in many districts including Patiala. The water level in Ghaggar river is continuously increasing. River Beas has risen above the danger mark. Water has entered the houses in many areas. People have been advised not to leave their homes. The water level in the rivers is continuously increasing.

Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains tweeted that the water level is increasing in many villages and cities of Sri Anandpur Sahib Constituency. The administration and all the teams are on red alert.

In view of the flood-like situation, the Mohali administration has launched a helpline number to help people. Mohali district administration has already released landlines number Mohali-0172-2219505, Derabassi-01762-283224, Kharar-0160-2280853. Apart from this, mobile numbers have now been issued in case the landline is not working. Due to continuous rains in Chandigarh and surrounding areas for the last 48 hours, the water in Sukhna Lake has reached the danger mark. Due to this, the administration has opened two flood gates of Sukhna Lake. One flood gate has been opened at 5:30 am and another at 6:15 am.

The danger mark in Sukhna Lake is at 1163 feet while the water level has reached 1164.60 feet. Meanwhile, the water was passing over the flood gates of Sukhna Lake. According to information, an alert has also been issued in some areas of Zirakpur and Panchkula due to the opening of the flood gates of Sukhna Lake.

River Beas has risen above the danger mark due to heavy rains. Water has reached people’s houses from the roads. In many places, highways have been submerged in water. An alert has been issued by the administration. People are being advised to go out as little as possible.
