The politics of Punjab has continued to boil over the arrest of Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira last day. Khaira has been kept in Jalalabad police station. Hundreds of Congress workers under the leadership of state president Raja Waring arrived in front of the police station on Friday morning to meet him. Along with Raj Waring, senior Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa was also present. Seeing these large number of Congress workers, the police closed the food gate.
Raja Waring kept on appealing to the policemen to open the gate of the police station, but the police officials refused to open the gate. Waring stood in front of the gate with the workers for a long time. But when the gate did not open, he went to Fazilka to meet the higher officials.
The case is registered in Jalalabad police station
Let us tell you that the FIR was registered in the drug trafficking case of 2015 in Jalalabad police station, that is why they have been kept in this police station. Punjab Congress president Raja Waring told the police that those people are criminals, as soon as they see them, the police have closed the gate of the police station. Despite Waring’s repeated appeals, the police officials did not open the lock of the gate, but they definitely told that Khaira has been taken to the CIA staff of Fazilka.
Fazilka did not even join the CIA staff
Raja Waring said that he reached Fazilka along with CIA staff Pratap Singh Bajwa and all the workers. Here one of their delegation was asked to sit inside but to wait for the SSP. Then when the SSP came, they requested him to meet Congress leader Khaira. But the SSP also refused to meet them saying that they are under compulsion, they cannot accept their appeal.
‘SAD had started the process of registering fake cases’
Raja Waring said that there was a period of registration of fake cases by the Akali government in 2015. But it never happened that the MLA was not allowed to meet the leader even for the third time. He criticized the finances of Punjab government and police including Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He said that such rituals have been seen for the first time in democracy. He said that all the leaders will be informed about the next strategy after discussion.
Congress appeals to the Governor to intervene
Earlier, opposing the arrest of Khaira, all the senior leaders of the Punjab Congress told Governor Banwari Lal Purohit that the arrest of Khaira is completely a result of political vendetta. The Punjab government has carried out this action in the spirit of revenge. Raj Waring has also shared a tweet about the conversation with the Governor. He wrote that he along with Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa has informed the Governor about the entire situation. And at the same time they have also appealed to them to intervene financially in this matter.
