Purchase of Wheat in Punjab: Laljit Singh Bhullar, Minister of Transport and Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development of Punjab, started procurement of wheat in Dana Mandis of Patti Constituency. He reached the fodder markets of Patti, Dubli, Kot Budha, Harike, Nowshera Pannu in the constituency and took stock of the procurement process.
On this occasion, the Cabinet Minister instructed the officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department and government procurement agencies not to let the farmers face any kind of problem in the mandis. He said that timely lifting of wheat from the markets should be ensured so that farmers do not face any difficulty while bringing wheat to the markets. He also instructed the officials to pay the crop on time.
Bhullar said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has announced that the state government will compensate the farmers for the loss due to the price cut by the Indian government on the wheat crop damaged due to rain and wind. He lamented that when the farmers have suffered heavy crop losses due to unseasonal rains, the central government has refused to help the farmers in this difficult time.
The Transport Minister said that the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan is committed to the welfare of farmers and will not allow any kind of hardship to the farmers in the markets during the wheat season.
Let us tell you that due to unseasonal rain, the arrival of wheat has started late in the markets and the wheat crop has arrived late in many markets of the belt. The cabinet minister said that the Punjab government has given a big relief to the farmers and the state government has increased the compensation amount of 25 percent for the damage to the crops of the farmers.
He said that the state government will give compensation of Rs 15,000 per acre to farmers with more than 75 percent damage. He said that a special survey is being conducted in the state and compensation for the damage will be distributed soon. He said that the state government stands with the farmers in this hour of crisis.
