Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) of Maharashtra on Saturday presented a budget of Rs 52,619.07 crore for the financial year 2023-24. The budget presented this time is 14.52 percent more than that of 2022-23. The budget was presented before BMC commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, who is the state-appointed administrator of the local body.
According to the budget documents, Rs 52,619.07 crore has been proposed in this estimated budget for the financial year 2023-24, which is 14.52 percent more (14.52 percent more) than the budgetary estimate of Rs 45,949.21 crore for 2022-23.

This is the first time since 1985 that the administration of the country’s richest civic body has presented the budget before an administrator as the five-year term of its councilors ends on March 7, 2022.
