'BJP has no base in Punjab'

Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claimed that the BJP had no base in Punjab and no one wanted to contest the Jalandhar by-election for them. That is why they are fielding an outsider as a candidate, who has no knowledge of the issues of Jalandhar and has no relation with the people of Jalandhar.

AAP Punjab secretary Rajwinder Kaur Thiara said that along with Rinku Atwal, another former youth Akali leader Parshotam Lal Sondhi has joined the BJP. He was arrested on 23 March 2008 at Amritsar Airport with 23 kg of heroin, found guilty in court and sentenced to 12 years in prison. He challenged the verdict in the Punjab and Haryana High Court where he was again found guilty and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He said that the condition of BJP in Punjab is so bad that they are inducting drug traffickers into their party.

Thiara said that the people of Punjab are intelligent and have rejected the BJP forever. He said that BJP deliberately harassed our farmers and due to which they were forced to sit on the borders of Delhi for more than a year in all kinds of challenging weather including summer and winter. He said that the people of the villages are not even liking to see the face of the BJP leaders and now they have brought an outsider for the Jalandhar by-election, who is not even aware of the issues of the people here.

Addressing the press conference, MLA Balkar Singh said that the people of Punjab do not have confidence in the BJP. That is why no one wanted to fight this election for BJP. He claimed that Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sushil Kumar Rinku will register a big victory in this election because the Mann government has been working since day one and people are very impressed with the pro-people policies of our national convener Arvind Kejriwal.

Along with MLA Sheetal Angural and MLA Raman Arora, Rajwinder Kaur Thiara and Balkar Singh were also present in this press conference.
