He informed the police control room about this on the spot. After this, the in-charge of the local police station and the vehicles of the fire brigade reached there. The fire brigade personnel who reached the spot rained water on it to reduce the effect of the chemical, but the more water the department personnel were pouring, Just as quickly, smoke started coming out of the gas drum. Because of this, the gas started spreading in the direction of the wind. The police station in-charge JS Sekhon said that on asking the factory management, it was found that a drum of chemical called xylene exploded in the factory at around 11 o’clock at night.
Due to this, due to the smell of gas spreading in the area, people are suffering from breathing problems and burning eyes. The drum suddenly exploded but thankfully there were no casualties as the chemical was not lethal. People panicked and came out of their houses due to difficulty in breathing due to the gas. According to the factory management, the fire brigade brought it under control after one and a half hours.
