Bihar’s industrial production will increase due to the formation of industrial corridor, industrial growth rate will be 12.6 percent by 2037

Rajdev Pandey, Patna: After the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC) takes shape, the annual growth rate of Bihar’s manufacturing sector is likely to increase tremendously. The annual growth rate of the state has been proposed to be 12.6% till the year 2037. This growth rate is the highest among the states included in this corridor as compared to Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal. This corridor is coming out of Gaya district.

Average growth rate till 2037 12.6%

The corridor project is being considered as a game changer in the economy of Bihar. Considering that apart from the encouraging increase in the growth rate, Bihar will account for 8% of the value of total production in the corridor. According to the project report of the National Industrial Development Corridor Development Program, the growth rate of Bihar is estimated to be 12.3% between 2022-27, 14.3% between 2027-2032 and 15.3% between 2032-37. In this way the average growth rate till 2037 will be 12.6%. In this context, experts say that since the construction area in this industrial corridor in Bihar has not been completed till 2022. Even after this, the growth rate is expected to remain more or less the same.

Possible increase of 1084 thousand crores in industrial production

319 thousand crores in food processing sector of Bihar, 601 thousand crores in C&P, 44 thousand crores in metal industries, 43 thousand crores in machinery, 16 thousand crores in auto industries sector, 3 thousand crores in electronics and pharma sector. Thousand crores, 15 thousand crores in textile, 41 thousand crores will be produced in other industries. The total production value of the Industrial Corridor is estimated at Rs 1084 thousand crore.

Migration from Bihar for employment will stop

Here, on February 8, Sandeep Poundrik, Principal Secretary, Bihar Industries Department, discussed the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC) project with the officers of National Industrial Corridor Development Program and Tata Insulting Engineers in the context of corridor development. Necessary guidelines were given in this meeting regarding the development of the corridor. A site of about 1650 acres in Ghamaria area in Gaya district is being developed as an Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) as part of the Amritsar Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC). According to experts, this corridor will not only lead to industrial development, but will also stop the migration from Bihar for employment.
