Ludhiana People caught the bribe-taking ASI. The police officer was taking a bribe of Rs 1500 from the auto driver. People had photostated the bribe money. People set a trap and recovered Rs 1500 from the police officer’s vehicle in front of the cameras.
SSP Navneet Singh Bains has suspended the police officer after the video of taking bribe came out. ASI Gurmeet Singh was posted in Police Station Reform.
Let us tell you that the auto driver accused Gurmeet Singh that he had given him Rs 2500 a few days before leaving the auto. Now again the police officer was asking him 2500 but he collected 1500 rupees and gave it to him.
The auto driver, with the help of a social worker, photocopied the currency notes which he gave to the ASI as bribe. Meanwhile, he informed the senior police officials. The officials recovered the notes from the possession of the ASI.
According to the police, Pritpal Singh of Halwara had sold his auto to a person about two years ago. The buyer gave a check to Pritpal Singh which bounced due to insufficient amount in the account. Realizing that he was cheated, Pritpal complained to the correctional police station but to no avail. Pritpal saw his auto running on the roads in Halwara, he stopped the auto driver and saw that the person had sold the vehicle ahead.
Pritpal reached the reform station with the auto and the driver. ASI Gurmeet Singh was found there who after helping to get possession of Wah Nada demanded a bribe of Rs 2500 which was paid by Pritpal. Later ASI asked for Rs 2500 more. ASI was caught red-handed by conducting a sting operation.
Kaustubh Sharma of Ludhiana Range said that the matter is serious. Bribery can never be tolerated. The ASI was suspended with immediate effect. The SP headquarters are investigating the matter.
