Vaccination Campaign against Lumpy Skin Disease: The Animal Husbandry Department of Punjab has come close to completing the mega vaccination drive against Lumpy Skin Disease almost a month ahead of schedule. The department has so far completed 90 percent of the target of vaccinating 25 lakh cows in the state.
Giving more information in this regard, Punjab Animal Husbandry Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that on February 15, 2023, the Mega Vaccination Campaign against Lumpy Skin Disease was launched on a war footing with 773 dedicated veterinary teams of the Animal Husbandry Department, which was launched on April 30. , is in full swing for completion before the 2023 deadline.
The Animal Husbandry Minister said that so far more than 22,58,300 cows have been vaccinated, which is 90 percent. The Cabinet Minister said that the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had set a target to vaccinate all 25 lakh cows in the state under this mega vaccination campaign.
Appreciating the tireless efforts of the officers and employees of the department, he said that due to the new veterinary officers and veterinary inspectors in the department, the department is going to be able to complete the vaccination campaign before the scheduled time of April 30.
Meanwhile, Principal Secretary of Animal Husbandry Department Vikas Pratap said that the department had set a target of 40,000 vaccinations daily and so far 9 districts Barnala, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Moga, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Patiala, Sahibzada Ajit. Singh Nagar and Sangrur have achieved 100 per cent vaccination and four districts have crossed the target of 90 per cent vaccination while in the remaining districts about 80 per cent vaccination has been completed. Expressing satisfaction over the vaccination campaign, Vikas Pratap said that all the other districts will complete 100 percent of the vaccination work during the month of April.
