Amarjit Guru, son of Raj Kumar, resident of village Gunachour (SBS Nagar), has excelled in the field of weightlifting for the past 13 years due to sheer dedication and skill. Due to his hard work and constant striving to reach new heights of success, he has succeeded in attaining a proud place among the top weightlifters of the country.
During a meeting held at the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Secretariat here, Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawan lauded Amarjit Guru for his outstanding achievement in the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship. He lauded Amarjit Guru’s commitment to the sport and expressed pride in seeing a hardworking young athlete from Punjab shine at the national level.

During the conversation, Sandhavan assured Amarjit Guru of his full support and encouragement for his future endeavours. He said that the Punjab government is committed to encourage talented athletes like Amarjit Guru and provide them with the necessary resources to emerge at the international level.
On this occasion Nawanshahr MLA Nachhatar Pal was also present. He congratulated Amarjit Guru. He said that the outstanding achievement of the player has not only brought light to the name of his family and hometown but is also a source of inspiration for new players across the state.
