Compensation for Farmers: The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, said in clear words that he will not ask the central government to compensate the farmers for the damage caused by the rain and storm, but the farmers will be compensated by the price cut by the government of India on the damaged wheat crop. The state government will compensate the loss.

In his address after removing the statue of the great freedom fighter Teja Singh Swaanthar from the curtain, the Chief Minister said, “We will not plead with the Center not to reduce the price of the crop, but when the Central Government will ask us to supply wheat and paddy for the national grain store.” , at that time we will seek compensation in the interest of farmers.”

The Chief Minister said that the farmers had to bear heavy loss of crops due to unseasonal rains but the central government did not hold the hands of the farmers in difficult times. Bhagwant Mann said that the Center has already implemented the GST of the state. and RDF has not yet released its due share and now imposed this decision on the farmers who are already suffering due to unseasonal rains.

Urging the farmers not to worry, the Chief Minister said that the Punjab government is capable of safeguarding the interests of the farmers at its level and will not lend a hand to the Center to help the farmers. He said that instead of supporting the farmers in this hour of crisis, the Center decided to reduce the price due to the affected crop, shriveled wheat and broken grains. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government stands shoulder to shoulder with the farmers in this serious situation and the state government will bear the entire cost of the loss caused to the farmers by the central government.

He said that the state government will give compensation of Rs 15,000 per acre to farmers with more than 75 percent damage. Bhagwant Mann said that the aim of this step is to ensure the welfare of farmers at any cost. He said that a special Girdavari is being conducted in the state and the compensation for the damages will be distributed before Baisakhi.

He said that this is the first time that farmers are being made aware about this process before conducting Girdavari. Bhagwant Mann said that earlier Girdavari was done only in offices or houses of politically rich people but now Girdavari is being done in a fair manner so that every farmer can get compensation.
