Akola (Maharashtra). Police have arrested four people, who allegedly posed as Narcotics Control Bureau (NCBI) officers, in Maharashtra’s Akola district and seized a car with the national emblem, anti-narcotics logo on it. The agency logo and VIP lights were on.

An official said on Saturday that these people were arrested on Thursday night from Dahihanda village in the district, where the accused were acting against ‘paan’ shop owners and other vendors for the last one month. Police said that the main accused in the case, who has described himself as an officer, is a resident of Akola and holds an MTech degree.

Inspector Surendra Raut of Dahihanda police station said, “We had received information that some people posing as NCB officers and employees were active here for the past one month. We were told that through their fake identities, they are taking action against ‘paan’ shop owners and other vendors. Some locals suspected their activities and informed the police.”

Raut said, “The police took all four people into custody. They were found to be using a private vehicle with the national emblem printed on the front and rear and the number plate bearing the words ‘Sub Divisional Director-NCB’. There was a VIP lamp on the roof of the car. Fake letterheads and seals were also found with them.” He informed that the matter is being investigated.
