A petition has been filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court alleging threat to life from MP from Chandigarh Kiran Kher and his Private Secretary (PA) Sahdev Salaria. This petition was filed by Chaitanya Aggarwal of Manimajra. On this petition, on Monday, the High Court has directed to give security to the petitioner and his family for a week.

Justice Anup Chitkara said in the judgment that without commenting on the merits of the case, he is directing the SP and the concerned SHO under constitutional authority to ensure security to the petitioner's family for a week from Monday itself. If the petitioner does not need protection, he can request that it not be released before one week.

The High Court said in its decision that the petitioner and his wife will have to stay within the four walls of the house during this time. Only medical needs, household items or a close relative or friend in the family will be allowed to go to the condolence meeting. If the petitioner or his wife steps out of the house, the order to provide protection should be withdrawn. The court clarified that the order would not apply to the petitioner's two minor children.

The High Court made it clear in the decision that no decision has been taken on merit. An order to provide security is not a blanket bail order. If an FIR is registered against the petitioner then this order will not come during the investigation. On the other hand, if the petitioner feels that his life is in danger again, he can seek protection from the court.

Manimajra resident Chaitanya Aggarwal, seeking to ensure the safety of himself and his family, has said in the petition that he came in contact with MP Kiran Kher and his PA Sahdev Salaria through his brother-in-law. He is a businessman by profession and as an investment agent he took Rs 8 crore from the MP in August. He had transferred 2 crore rupees to Kiran Kher's bank account, while 6 crore liability remained.

In November, he was asked to return the outstanding amount immediately. Because of this, he had to cancel his brother's wedding ceremony. On December 1, he was called home and tortured. He was allowed to go only after giving his passport, laptop, mobile and check. After this, he was hospitalized for two days due to hypertension. In such a situation the safety of his life and that of his family should be ensured.
