Police have arrested Congress block president Sahil Kapoor alias Papal in Ludhiana fake call center case. Sahil has played an important role in this entire case, due to which he has been arrested. The accused is being interrogated.
It may be mentioned that Sahil was appointed the president of Atma Nagar Block by state Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Waring ten days ago on July 14. District Congress President and former MLA Sanjay Talwar said that Kapoor is an active member of the party. He was appointed the Block President of Atma Nagar Block 1 on July 14 but resigned from the post the very next day citing some personal issues. The accused was a candidate in the Youth Congress elections. He has been close to many big leaders of the metropolis. It is being told that Sahil used to manage this call center at the local level. At his behest, the accused were openly running this black business.
Let us tell you that the police had arrested 29 people in this racket three days ago. The arrested people were from 7 states. The accused presented himself as a technical service provider for multinational companies. They have cheated foreigners by giving them money. All the mobile phones used in it have also been seized by the police. The arrested gang members are from Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Delhi and Punjab.
Claiming to provide customer support facility from Microsoft headquarters and Apple headquarters platform, they had released phone number +14258828080 and toll free number 1800-102-1100. On these numbers, people living abroad used to call about technical problems in the computer system etc., after which the accused used to hack the system of those people.
After obtaining their personal banking information by informing them of their system’s IP address and system hacking, they used to defraud them of gift cards and stole the bank account amount by obtaining the number written on that gift card.
