Reply to the Center of Chief Minister Hon
CM Mann’s security team wrote to the Center on Thursday and said that Z+ security is not required in Punjab and Delhi. The special team of Punjab Police and CM Security is enough for them. The security team reasoned that there is no problem as Punjab and Delhi have 2 security zones each (Punjab Police and CRPF). He said that due to having 2 commands, the security perimeter may be damaged.
The Center wanted to give 55 CRPF commandos
On May 25, the central government had announced Z+ security to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. This decision was taken after the intelligence department’s report. Under this, 55 commandos were to meet Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. In which 10 NSG commandos were also to be added, mostly from CRPF.
Decision to increase security after the case of Amritpal Singh
The intelligence department had decided to increase the security of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan after the case of Amritpal Singh. Apart from this, after the bomb blasts near the Amritsar Darbar Sahib, the intelligence department was alerted. Considering all these things, it was decided to increase the security of Maan. While Chief Minister Mann says that the Punjab Police is ready to protect him, in the past, commandos of the Punjab Police have been drafted in to provide security to the Chief Minister and his family. A few months ago, the security of his wife Gurpreet Kaur was also increased.
