Addressing the gathering during the state-level function on the occasion of Shaheed Udham Singh’s Martyrdom Day, the Chief Minister expressed grief and said that although the country got its freedom from the slavery of the British rulers in 1947, the dreams of the patriots and great martyrs never came true. happened He said that the governments from time to time in the center and the state looted the people with both hands and brutally oppressed them. Bhagwant Mann said that the time has come to show these oppressive leaders a way out for which the second wave of freedom struggle should be started.

Also, he said that in this freedom struggle, those who live in palaces or luxurious houses or those who call themselves ‘uncle ji’ and ‘baba ji’ should be pushed into political oblivion. He said that this is what the time demands because only by doing this the dreams of the martyrs can be fulfilled and an India with equal rights for all can be created. Bhagwant Mann said that these opportunistic leaders never stand on the side of the people, but these people go into the clutches of the same party, where there is their own benefit, be it Mughal rulers, British rulers, Congress or BJP.

He said that these leaders have always given priority to their personal interests over the state and its people. He quipped, โ€œRecently a BJP delegation that met the Governor on some issues included all the defectors who had left the Congress and joined the BJP. None of the old BJP leaders were part of the delegation which was led by the new party president Bhagwan. Even the delegation was led by Sunil Jakhar, who himself was once the state Congress president but recently switched his allegiance for the post.โ€

Along with this, CM Mann said that these people should be taught a lesson to those who stabbed Punjab and Punjabis in the back so that others can also get a lesson. Bhagwant Mann said that Punjab has already seen this movement with the formation of Aam Aadmi government in the state in 2022.

Giving an example, the Chief Minister said that a case of irregularities has also been registered against former Finance Minister Manpreet Badal, who brought him into politics. Bhagwant Mann said that the former Finance Minister had taken an oath to serve the state by going to the native village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh but instead of fulfilling his promise he forgot it and joined the Congress first and now the BJP for the sake of office. went He said that if anyone abuses his official position and betrays the people of the state, he will have to bear the consequences of his crimes.

Mann said that the government treasury is no longer empty as before but every single penny of it is being used for the welfare of the common man. He said that many initiatives have been taken by the state government to ensure comprehensive development of Punjab and prosperity of its people. Bhagwant Mann expressed the hope that the day is not far when Punjab will emerge as a leading state in the world due to the concerted efforts of the state government.

The Punjab Chief Minister said that the Punjab government has already ordered a special survey to ascertain the loss of people due to floods in the state. He said that the officials have been instructed to ensure that the special Girdavari is completed by August 15. Bhagwant Mann assured the people, “Our government will definitely compensate the people for the damage caused in the floods, even if they have lost a chicken or a goat.”

He further said that the state government will not beg from the Center to provide relief to the people in this hour of crisis. He said that the state government has the necessary resources to get the people out of this dire crisis and no stone will be left unturned for this noble cause. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government will not ask even a single penny from the central government for the flood victims.

Paying homage to Shaheed Udham Singh, the Chief Minister said that he bows his head on this holy land of Sunam where the great son of this land was born. Recalling his long association with his friends and teachers of the area, he said that in his childhood he used to come to this place with his father to pay homage to the martyr. Bhagwant Mann said that Shaheed Udham Singh was a great son, who showed bravery by martyring Michael O’Dwyer, the main culprit of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

The Chief Minister said that the great sacrifice given by this great hero in the national freedom struggle helped the country to free itself from the yoke of British imperialism. Bhagwant Mann said that whenever he visited London as an artist, he would visit Caxton Hall where Shaheed Udham Singh avenged the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. He said that this event is very important for all of us as it reminds us of the heroic saga of Shaheed which will continue to be a source of inspiration for our young generations to fight against oppression and injustice.
