The water level in Bhakra is just 6 feet below the danger mark. Due to which the worries of Punjab are increasing. Bhakra’s floodgates were opened up to 2 feet for testing on Sunday. Out of which about 8100 cusecs of water was released.

According to the information received from BBMB, the water level in Bhakra Dam is increasing rapidly after the rains in Himachal Pradesh. About 46827 cusecs of water was released through the turbines today. 12350 cusecs of water is being released from Nangal Dam in Nangal Hydel Canal, 10150 cusecs in Anandpur Sahib Hydel Canal and 27200 cusecs in Sutlej River. Apart from this, flood gates have also been opened up to half a foot.

Along with this, the water level of Pong Dam has reached 1385 feet. At 10 am on Sunday, the water level in the dam was 1383.50 feet and 194878 cusecs of water was coming. While three days ago the water level in the dam was 1373.08 feet. In this way, the water level has increased by 10 feet in three days. 50 thousand cusecs of water will also be released from Pong Dam today, which is to be released in three phases.

After the announcement of release of water from Bhakra, DC of Hoshiarpur has issued an alert. The banks of the Sutlej and the lowlands are being monitored. Apart from this, the banks of the Beas and the low-lying areas have also been ordered to be alert after the release of water from the Pong Dam at 8 am.
