If media reports are to be believed, according to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain in many parts of Punjab during the next 4 days. It is being told that a yellow alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department in Punjab on June 12 and 13. Rain may occur in some areas of Punjab on Saturday and Sunday, while there is a possibility of rain along with strong winds on June 12. Rain is likely to occur in most districts of Punjab on Monday.

On the other hand, the sub-Himalayan districts of West Bengal are expected to get relief from the heat due to the possibility of advancing southwest monsoon. However, people in southern districts of the state are likely to face severe heat wave till June 13, officials said. The Meteorological Department has forecast pre-monsoon rains in the sub-Himalayan districts of the state. Southwest Monsoon is likely to move over all northeastern states and West Bengal and Sikkim within two days.

Manipur, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Mizoram are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rains in the next three days and Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in the next five days due to the onset of monsoon in the northeastern states, officials said. Sub-Himalayan districts of West Bengal – Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar and Alipurduar and Sikkim are likely to experience heavy rain till June 10 and then very heavy rain till June 13.
