In Munda village of Tarn Taran, there has been a crack in the dam built to stop the flow of Beas river. Due to this, the water has returned to about eight to ten villages in this area. The fields of the villages have been flooded and the entire paddy crop has been submerged. Farmers say that heavy dirt is also coming along with the water, due to which their fields have been ruined.
Dhusi dam broke at 3 am
The boy of Tarn Taran and the people of Gujarpura said that at around 3 o’clock in the morning today, due to the increase in the flow of water in the river Beas, the Dhusi dam burst. After this the flow of water is continuously increasing. Villagers said that till now at least 6 to 7 kilometers of fields have been submerged in water in this area. They are also putting bags full of soil but the current is so strong that even the soil bags were washed away.
Water rose towards Sardulgarh city, people engaged in building a dam
After breaching the Dhusi Dam at Chandpur on the Ghaggar river, the water is now moving towards Sardulgarh town after engulfing the rural areas. People have started building earthen dams on their level from where water is likely to enter around the city. People are starting to come out of their houses and moving towards safer places with their animals.
